Description

I have always been good at talking with people, both professionally and causally, as well as presenting in front of various group sizes. I have learned how to explain technical terms and results to people that might not understand the technical aspect of things. Through teaching, I have learned to make difficult concepts easy to comprehend through the use of demonstrations and by using terms that everyone recognizes, ultimately getting everyone to grasp the concept, without prior knowledge.

I have been in education for 9 years. I tutored high school and college math for four years while finishing my geology degree at CSUF, and then found myself going into teaching for the following five years. I have taught every math from algebra 1 to statistics, in addition to teaching Physics and AP Physics. My background in geology helped me gain the knowledge I needed to understand all components of science and math, and showed me how to take these components and be able to put them to use in a practical way.

For a short time I was an on call field technician for Tetra Tech in CA. My job was to collect rain samples that would be sent off to a lab to test for any contaminants found in runoff water. Other instances that have called for me to be able to put data collection and analysis to use include my undergraduate thesis and a separate independent study I volunteered for at the same time. Both required me to go into the field and collect data for a larger project, and make corrections mathematically and ultimately interpret that data for later use.

Once I started teaching I used these skills to help students understand why they were learning math and science, and what it can be used for. I told them the heavy application they had in scientific and mathematical fields, as well as the every day applications that these ideas had.

I am a quick learner, and given a small amount of time, I can apply my skillset to many different fields and jobs that come my way. I always put my best effort into everything I do, and it always pays off. | Learn more about Dominic Chaulk’s work experience, education, connections & more by visiting their profile on LinkedIn
