$#149; Wrap the Teflon tape around the male threads in the same direction as the thread. Start from the end of the mating threads and work your way towards the base, overlapping the tape by about 50%. Use enough Teflon tape to cover the entire thread, but not too much that it bulges out or interferes with the fitting. Usually, 3 to 5 wraps are sufficient, depending on the size and quality of the tape and the thread.
$#149; Cut or tear off the excess Teflon tape and press it firmly onto the thread. Do not leave any loose ends or gaps that could cause leaks or clogs.
$#149; Screw the fitting onto the pipe and tighten it by hand, then use a wrench to give it a final turn. Do not over-tighten the fitting, as this could damage the thread or the seal. If the fitting leaks, try to tighten it a bit more, or remove it and reapply Teflon tape.
