Simply put, Faraday bags work by blocking all signals to and from electronic devices once they’re in the closed bag. The idea of Faraday bags came many years after an invention done by English scientist Michael Faraday. This was coined the Faraday cage. Faraday discovered that an electrical conductor only exhibits electrical charges on its external surface. No effects were apparent in the interior of the conductor. To demonstrate this, Faraday conducted an experiment in a theater. After making a 12-foot cube and lining up the “cage’s” interior with metal foil, he blasted the room with high-voltage discharges from an electrostatic generator. While inside the cube, Faraday proved his hypothesis by using an electroscope, a device used to detect electrical charges. The electroscope could only detect external electric charges; none was detected in the cube’s interior. Today, the concept of the Faraday
