By popular request, Craft Contemporary Shop is pleased to offer this authentic kintsugi kit, imported from POJ Studio in Japan. Unlike many kintsugi kits currently available in the US that use resin or low-quality materials, this kit contains real urushi lacquer and 24K gold powder so you can use traditional techniques to make food-safe repairs to your most cherished ceramics.
What is kintsugi?
Kintsugi gold joinery is the Japanese art of repairing chipped, cracked, and broken, mostly ceramic and porcelain tableware, using only 100% natural materials including urushi lacquer and finishing with 24K gold powder. While the intention of Western styles of repair are to mimic the original state and make the repaired item look as though it was never damaged, kintsugi highlights the breakages and celebrates the unique story of the wares that make our house a home.
In the kit:
Kiurushi (10g)
Eurushi (10g)
24k Gold Powder (0.1g)
Tonoko Powder (15g)

Disposable gloves (2 pairs)
Brushes (2 types)

IMPORTANT NOTE / DISCLAIMER: Urushi contains a compound that can cause anything from minor skin irritation to a more severe allergic reaction, depending on the individual.
Urushi lacquer is the sap of the urushi tree. While urushi can cause skin irritation in its raw, wet state, once it has completely hardened, it is absolutely food-safe and one of the most durable natural materials.Should you experience alarming inflammation from touching urushi, or from simply being in the presence of urushi, please remove yourself from the room and consult a doctor for immediate medical attention.
For most people, touching urushi will cause minor irritation and itchy skin that can last up to three weeks. Proper handling, including wearing gloves and a long-sleeve shirt, can help to prevent accidental contact with urushi. ALWAYS READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY BEFORE BEGINNING A PROJECT TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH SAFETY RISKS AND PRECAUTIONS.
Craft Contemporary Shop and POJ Studio are not liable for any adverse reactions caused by urushi. If you accidentally touch urushi, immediately massage the affected area well with any plant-based oil, like you would when removing make-up, and thoroughly wash with soap thereafter.
