Description

PECS, or the Picture Exchange Communication System, enables individuals who have little or no verbal language skills to communicate with others through pictures. The system was first developed in 1984 for use with preschool children who had autism. It has since been used with adults and children across a wide variety of conditions including aphasia, apraxia, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome.
