Description

Comprised of six pieces of imagery w/ water stained paper, ink and ink tracing Measures 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”

Robert Pollard, who is best known for his sustained, prolific songwriting and recording, was creating collages even before he was writing songs. As a child, Pollard would spend hours alone in his room assembling collages that served as album covers for bands that existed only in his head. Later, when he had spear-headed his band Guided By Voices, each release whether an LP or a 45, would showcase Pollard's thoughtful imagery. Often satirical, political, dark and sarcastic, his collages can also be whimsical, innocent and uplifting. In 2008, Fantagraphics published a hardbound collection of Pollard's work spanning over 130 pages. His collages have been exhibited at Michael Imperioli's Studio Dante in New York, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and Merge Records headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. He has also shown his work at two private galleries in Manhattan (The 45 Space) and Brooklyn (The Library is on Fire Headquarters).
